This rum originates from the isle of Barbados in the Caribbean. It was distilled in a continuous column still from a molasses-based fermentation back in 1999 at Foursquare Rum Distillery. After that it was matured for eight years in Tropical Barbados climate it matured further in England. This rum has aged for a total of 21 years and has been bottled as a single cask rum at cask strength at 61 % ABV. There are only 210 bottles of this unique delicatesse.
ESSENTIA 1 is the first single cask series by Alta Gama Rum. The series contains three single cask rums from Barbados, Venezuela and El Salvador. Each one is bottled at cask strength with no added sugar, color or water, which highlights the natural flavours of matured rum.
On the nose you will get sweet notes of coconut, roasted butter, soft wood, light caramel, butterscotch and dried tropical fruits. It has some nice and balanced flavours on the palate, where you will find toffee, almonds and soft tannins. The finish will almost get you to the sandy beaches of Barbados – it’s that long.
